Approximately 50-70% of the fat graft with generally survive or 'take'. It is no uncommon to require a touch up procedure based on the unpredictability of fat graft survival.
The 'Mommy Makeover' is a combination surgery that involves lifting and resizing the breasts and removing loose skin and tightening the muscles of the abdomen after pregnancy. Dr. Farkas' breast and tummy tuck practice focuses on women who have had children and/or have undergone weight loss. When you come in for your consultation, Dr. Farkas will tailor the operation to your breast and body size so that you can restore the look of your body prior to pregnancy.
Gravity constantly works on us regardless of how hard we try to fight it. Weight fluctuations and pregnancy can make the body age faster. The breasts and abdomen will enlarge and the skin will stretch to a degree to accommodate this growth, changing its supporting mechanism and causing it to lose elasticity. This becomes evident particularly when we lose weight or stop breastfeeding. The result is sagging of the breasts or what is called breast ptosis and loose skin of the abdomen. Additionally, we can lose volume in our breasts, which results in descent of the gland, making the upper part of the breast more concave.
With a mommy makeover surgery, we can restore the appearance of your breasts and abdomen to make them look more youthful.
Body contouring after major weight loss reduces the excess skin and fat that is left behind from the expansion of skin, loss of fat and lack of tissue elasticity that often occurs after a major weight loss. This sagging skin commonly develops around the face, neck, upper arms, breast, abdomen buttocks and thighs and can make your body appear irregular and misshapen. If you have undergone dramatic weight loss either through diet and exercise or bariatric surgery, and you are at your optimum weight loss goal, you may choose to have this procedure.
Abdominoplasty, otherwise known as a tummy tuck, is a procedure that shapes the abdomen and waist through the removal of excess skin and fat combined with the tightening of the abdominal muscles. It helps to reverse the effects of pregnancy and weight gain. I usually advise at least one night observation so that patients are comfortable and confident in their recovery after this type of surgery.
Brachioplasty (Arm Lift)
Brachioplasty or arm lift is a procedure, which shapes and contours the upper arm through the removal of excess skin and fat. It is usually combined with liposuction of the upper arm. The procedure uses different incision patterns to individually address the varying effects of weight loss to give you an improved shape to your arms. This procedure can often be combined with other body contouring procedures.
Liposuction is a general term for the removal of fat using a minimally invasive technique with small incisions and small suction cannulas. It can be performed in multiple areas on the body and neck. The procedure is designed to decrease the thickness of the subcutaneous tissue and shape the areas of treatment. It can be performed with multiple types of suction devices and sizes of liposuction cannulas. In some situations this technique can be combined with other excisional procedures, which remove excess skin, such as tummy tucks and arm lifts. Dr. Farkas will discuss the technique that will give you the optimal result in each region.
Lower Body Lift
A lower body lift is a circumferential procedure, which shapes the abdomen and waist, as well as the outer thighs and buttocks. It is a very powerful body contouring operation that removes excess skin and fat through lifting the outer thigh and buttock combined with the tightening of the abdominal area. It is performed with an incision that wraps around the lower waistline. A lower body lift is frequently performed in the patients who have lost a significant amount of weight after pregnancy, diet and exercise, and/or bariatric surgery. In some situations a buttock augmentation can be performed at the same time. Your decision for cosmetic body contouring surgery is an individual one and your options will be discussed in your consultations with Dr. Farkas. Each area of the surgery may require different amounts of care depending on what is performed, but in general the after care for any body lift procedure is straightforward. Dr. Farkas advises at least one night observation so that patients are comfortable and confident in their recovery after this type of surgery
